Role: Photographer
Serendipity led to me to photograph St. Helen’s two day Parish Fiestas, in Eloy, Arizona.
St. Helen of the Cross’ 2024 Parish Fiesta is an annual event that draws in parishioners for a weekend of food, music, raffles, and community. This year saw performances from several local Arizonan musicians.
Grupo Acertijo Norteno performed on the first night of St. Helen’s annual festivities. I had the privilege of speaking with a relative of the band, and they told me that they were a family group before leaving to the dance floor.
Mariachi Nueva Era and Grupo Latido performed on the second day.
Casa Grande locals may have seen Mariachi Nueva Era play at, the now closed, El Chicano Grill or Cafe Manuel. They played before Ballet Folklorico Del Sol took the stage.
Tucson based, Grupo Latido closed out the weekend’s festivities. Playing a variety of music, they kept the energy alive on the cold Sunday evening by encouraging parishioners to warm themselves up on the dance floor.
